Remember the Heroes & Villains
This section is dedicated to preserving the names of bureaucratic
wrong-doers, so that we may keep them from gaining positions of greater power in
the future, no matter how long ago their mistakes were made.
It is also dedicated to preserving the names of public heros;those
who stand up to the establishment and fight for fairness—no matter what
the consequences to their careers may be.
Heroes
- Judge Charles E. Burton
- A Great American. The judge of the Palm Beach County
Canvassing Board who established fair and sensible rules for hand counting
ballots—and gave the nation an example of how a judge should rise above
emotions and personal prejudice. Please consider sending a short note to
Judge Burton, if you agree with these sentiments. Here is the
letter Bill Wattenburg sent.

Villains
- David J. Irey
- Mr. Irey is a special environmental prosecutor who instigated the
prosecution of Robert Womack for removing
an underground gas tank. He also prosecuted a 70-year-old retired woman who
received a parcel of land and building in her divorce settlement that had
previously been used as a gasoline station, and had two underground fuel tanks
still on the property.
- Doug Held
- The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Fire Management Officer who ordered the July 3rd,
1999 controlled burn that destroyed over 20 homes in the Trinity Mountains
of Northern California, near Lewiston.
- Lt. Paul Chignell
- According
to Scott Ostler of the SF Chronicle, led a group of 7 police officers in
shutting down “Homeless Sandwiches”, a volunteer\
effort of Branson School students (a private high school in Ross, CA) to feed homeless in U.N.
Plaza every Saturday.
