Daschle vs. the environmentalists

Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle added language to a bill on defense spending (H.R.4775) that will allow crews to start thinning forests—but just in his state—imperiled by the threat of wildfire, by exempting the state from challenges allowed under the National Environmental Protection Act. But why not the rest of the nation? [Update: this bill became Public Law No: 107-206 when signed by President Bush on August 2nd.

Why destroy our forests and wildlife?

In the Oregonian, Michael Fahey of Columbia Hellicopters, asks why 70 million of the 192 million acres of federal forests are threatened by massive fires because not enough logging has been allowed.

How to get Calif. Gov. Davis to veto the stupid greenhouse gas bill

To stop AB1058/AB1493, citizens must demand that all elected or appointed government officials in the state of California immediately turn in their state-purchased vehicles in exchange for a fuel-efficient gasoline-electric or diesel-electric hybrid vehicle.

Call Gov. Davis at 1-800-988-2588 and ask him to veto the bill.

This bill must be vetoed because it gives extensive law-making power to the Air Resources Board—an appointed board of bureaucrats that has demonstrated its incompetence by forcing the use of the poisonous MTBE (causing a cleanup bill of $50–$100 Billion); the use of diesel fuel that damaged the engines of ambulances, fire engines, and many other diesel-powered vehicles; among other stupid things.

More details throughout the week…

How to solve the “One Nation, Under God” vs. atheist problem

Congress must simply define the word God as used in all government matter as:

“The word God shall mean that entity or force that created the universe in which the Earth resides.”
