Some plants call for help when attacked

Several times in the past, Bill Wattenburg has told vegetarian callers an interesting fact they did not know—that some plants release volitale chemicals when attacked by animals or viruses. I just came across an old clipping I had saved on just this topic: —Keep the Aspirin Flying“, from the January 1998 issue of Discover Magazine describes how tobacco plants use aspirin to stimulate the immunie system of the attacked and nearby plants.
